The Air Jordan 1 Mid UNC sneaker is a tribute to Michael Jordan's years playing basketball for Tar Heels, the University of North Carolina's college basketball team, before he entered the NBA. The basketball icon is one of nine Tar Heel players to win the ACC Rookie of the Year award. The original Air Jordan 1 UNC sneaker was released in 1984 and was one of the first produced by the Jordan Brand. Worn by Michael Jordan during his first two seasons at the Chicago Bulls, the sneakers became one of the most popular colourways from the Air Jordan 1 and the Dunk. The UNC-inspired colourway features the team's signature colours, as it has a smooth white leather upper with University Blue overlays. The sneaker features all the much-loved elements from the AJ1 mid, such as medial and lateral Nike Swooshes, a perforated toe box, a supportive ankle strap with the Wings logo, and a woven Jumpman on the tongue.
